As a student at The University of Georgia, I understand how difficult it can be to juggle classes, student organizations, internships and extracurriculars. For many students, including myself, coffee is what gets us through a long day.

1. Hendershot’s Coffee

Distance from Campus: 13-minute walk

Hendershot’s has a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, perfect for any time of the day. If you are searching for a coffee shop in Athens that is typically not crowded, Hendershot’s is the perfect spot to get work done. Students have described Hendershot’s as the best place to study, work or meet with people. With free Wi-Fi, pet-friendly outdoor seating and live music on Friday nights, be sure not to miss this spot!

2. Starbucks

Starbucks has a vast selection of coffee, drinks, food and snacks, and is located right across from North Campus. Even though it isn’t a local coffee shop in Athens, it is in a convenient location and is reliable. Starbucks makes for a good meeting place or study spot and can ensure a consistent cup of coffee!

3. Buvez Cafe

Buvez is a European-inspired cafe and lounge that offers a full-service bar, coffee, and pastries, sandwiches and more. The menu also features fresh salads and refreshing snoballs, ensuring there’s something delightful for every taste. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual bite or a relaxed evening drink, Buvez brings a touch of European charm to every experience.

4. 1000 Faces

1000 Faces has free Wi-Fi, welcomes dogs, and is a good place to sit and relax. Their mission is to connect the coffee producer to the coffee consumer more directly, so they have different coffee grounds from all over the world available for purchase. It is conveniently located downtown and has spacious indoor seating. 1000 Faces serves coffee, espresso, tea and baked goods.

5. Jittery Joe’s

Jittery Joe’s is a coffee shop with locations both on- and off-campus! They serve pre-made sandwiches, smoothies, Frappuccinos and other caffeinated beverages. Both locations are spacious and make for a good study spot or meeting place. The coffee drinks are delicious and my favorite to sip on during a late-night study session!

6. Molly’s Coffee Company

Molly’s is the perfect coffee shop in Athens if you are looking to venture a bit further from campus and go to a place that is usually less crowded. It has a spacious indoor seating area, so you can find the perfect spot to be productive all day. If you are in a rush, they have a drive-thru with a menu that features all different types of coffee and baked goods!

7. Sips Espresso

Sips is located a short drive away from campus but is a nice, quiet location for getting things done. Students have referred to it as a great study spot with some of the nicest baristas in town. Be sure not to miss this spot!
